چکیده

Brachypodium distachyon (Brachypodium) is a powerful model system for studying cereal, bioenergy, forage, and turf grasses. Nucleotide diversity (π) and linkage disequilibrium (LD) in candidate genes involved in the antioxidative pathways in this species are not known. The average π for CAT encoding catalase, GPX encoding glutathione peroxidase, DHAR encoding dehydroascorbate reductase, MDHAR encoding monodehydroascorbate reductase, and APX ecoding ascorbate peroxidase was 0.0027 among 19 accessions contrasting for drought tolerance. The highest value of π was found in APX (0.0046) and the lowest π was in MDHAR (0.0006). The average single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) frequency across these five genes was one SNP per 131 bp between two randomly sampled sequences for the five genes in the sequence length ranging from 1,447 bp to 1,701 bp. The LD decay was slow and extended to a distance of more than 1.2kb for all genes. The neighbor-joining tree analyses of DHAR, MDHAR, and CAT generally separated accessions differing in drought tolerance. The results indicate a putative role of these candidate genes in increasing general fitness of Brachypodium.

Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Drought Tolerance in Brachypodium distachyon

The temperate wild grass Brachypodium distachyon (Brachypodium) serves as model system for studying turf and forage grasses. Brachypodium collections show diverse responses to drought stress, but little is known about the genetic mechanisms of drought tolerance of this species. The objective of this study was to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with drought tolerance traits in...

Genome Wide Analysis of Nucleotide-Binding Site Disease Resistance Genes in Brachypodium distachyon

Nucleotide-binding site (NBS) disease resistance genes play an important role in defending plants from a variety of pathogens and insect pests. Many R-genes have been identified in various plant species. However, little is known about the NBS-encoding genes in Brachypodium distachyon. In this study, using computational analysis of the B. distachyon genome, we identified 126 regular NBS-encoding...

The Pattern of Linkage Disequilibrium in Livestock Genome

Linkage disequilibrium (LD) is bases of genomic selection, genomic marker imputation, marker assisted selection (MAS), quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, parentage testing and whole genome association studies. The Particular alleles at closed loci have a tendency to be co-inherited. In linked loci this pattern leads to association between alleles in population which is known as LD. Two metr...

Transcriptome analysis of hormone-induced gene expression in Brachypodium distachyon

Brachypodium distachyon is a new model plant closely related to wheat and other cereals. In this study, we performed a comprehensive analysis of hormone-regulated genes in Brachypodium distachyon using RNA sequencing technology. Brachypodium distachyon seedlings were treated with eight phytohormones (auxin, cytokinine, brassinosteroid, gibberelline, abscisic acid, ethylene, jasmonate and salicy...

Quantitative trait loci associated with natural diversity in water-use efficiency and response to soil drying in Brachypodium distachyon.

All plants must optimize their growth with finite resources. Water use efficiency (WUE) measures the relationship between biomass acquisition and transpired water. In the present study, we performed two experiments to understand the genetic basis of WUE and other parameters of plant-water interaction under control and water-limited conditions. Our study used two inbred natural accessions of Bra...
